Our role is, in broad terms, to ensure that the Pre-School runs successfully in accordance with its aims. More specifically, our duty is to act at all times in the best interests of the Pre-School by:
- Complying with relevant legislation
- Adhering to our constitution
- Completing administrative tasks such as risk assessments and funding claims forms
- Ensuring proper insurances are in place
- Ensuring that the building is properly maintained
The Committee is responsible for appointing and managing staff, for ensuring that the Pre-School finances are properly managed, for fund-raising, and anything else necessary to ensure the good running of the Pre-School. We also organise the annual Summer Outing and source and purchase the sweatshirts and T-shirts.
We meet twice every term. Each meeting date is posted on the notice board two weeks in advance of the meeting, together with an agenda. These meetings are for Committee members only; however, if you wish to add an item to the agenda, or address the Committee, please leave a message for the Chairperson with a member of staff. Our AGM is held in the Autumn Term and is open to both members and non-members.
Welcome from the Committee!
Our committee is a fun, friendly and proactive team of volunteers, all of whom have, or have had, children attending Horringer Pre-School. The pre-school cannot run without the committee and we are always keen for new parents and members of the local community to join us and find out more about what we do. We oversee the running of the pre-school, with strong links with the staff and to Ofsted. We also ensure that future families are drawn to our vibrant setting where the excellent staff will support your child to develop in all areas.
Fundraising is also an enormous part of our role, and we endeavour to raise much needed money through new and interesting events. In previous years we have raised money through sponsored rowing; an auction night; Clairvoyant evening; and donations from local businesses and Councillors; as well as holding stalls at the Horringer Village fete. All these funds go directly back into improving the indoor and outdoor facilities for the children and enhancing their learning and play experiences while at Horringer Pre-School.
We are now concentrating our fundraising efforts on a re-build of the pre-school and are calling it the “Horringer Pre-School Acorn Project”. This is the biggest fundraising initiative to date and a huge undertaking. Our fundraising efforts would not be possible without the continued support of parents and the local community – so thank you!
