Our Pre-School

The Pre-School facilities nourish our children’s learning, helping them grow from a toddler into a confident young child, emotionally ready for school.

Our open plan indoor space means that our children can move freely between the different activities, always with the careful (but not intrusive) supervision of the staff. A wide range of activities for the children are available at all times, from sand and water play, painting, play-dough, building blocks, puzzles, role-play toys and dressing up costumes. The staff are very keen on anything involving glitter!

We also have an indoor climbing frame which, depending on the children’s imagination that day, can be a doctor’s surgery, a pirate ship or a fort. The children love our “book corner”, a quiet space where we gather for group chats, reading or sometimes a nap.

And of course there is a named peg for every child and a child-sized toilet (building independence), as well as a staff kitchen and an area for children to help prepare the snacks.

Outdoors, we have a purpose-built garden with play equipment including ride-on toys, a mud kitchen, a large sand-pit and some raised beds for growing our own snacks!

Being right next door to Ickworth Park Primary School also means we can use their playing field with climbing equipment for “big school” sports, or their indoor gym if it’s rainy.

Best of all, we are very lucky to have our own private wooded copse, which can become fairyland on a sunny day, or enable journeys to the North Pole if it’s chilly.  Children love being able to learn and explore in nature, in a safe, shaded space.
