Fantastic Fair
We hope everyone would agree that the Fair & Flower Show was a massive success! It was a great community event!
After months of planning, many meetings, phone calls and emails, a changeable weather forecast, a very wet Friday night set up and a showery Saturday morning – our prayers were answered and the sun finally shone for us – at exactly 2.10pm!
The proceeds from the raffle were an amazing £1,200 meaning £400 for the three beneficiaries; Horringer Gardening Club, Ickworth Park Primary School PTA and the Horringer Acorn Project. The total raised by the Pre-School’s Acorn Project (including their share of the raffle) was £1,700 – an amazing figure!
This event wold not be possible without the help and support of so many. Our thanks go to Ruth Walker who spearheaded the whole event; Bec Austin of The Design Office for our fabulous posters, Ickworth Park Primary School for providing our venue, the Gardening Club for organising the Flower Show, Mel and the Ickworth Park Primary School PTA committee for their assistance and tasty BBQ, Collage for providing the music and PA System, Amanda Kan for producing the raffle tickets, Malcolm Payne for use of his marquee, Whatley Lane Estate Agents for our signboards, the Community Centre for use of the tables, chairs and gazebo’s, our merry band of volunteers who helped set up, tidy away and man the pre-school bar and bouncy slide, the Goodwin and Ames-Waller families for the lots in our Silent Auction; the many people, organisations and businesses who donated raffle prizes, the National Trust for donating cups, the Wells family for the bales, Dawn Cater and the children for their fabulous maypole dancing and jazzercise demonstration and Kevin Slingsby and his team of Horringer Diary distributors who circulated raffle tickets throughout the village.
Lastly, our thanks go to everyone who supported the event – we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
