In April 2017 we launched our exciting fundraising mission: to raise £150,000 for a new community building for the village, which will also be the location of our Pre-School during term-time weekdays. The children had a visit from a mini-digger to mark the big day!
After a lot of consultation and research, we designed the ideal new community building, and successfully applied for Planning Permission (December 2017).
Since then, we have been fundraising in a variety of ways – we hope you have been able to attend some of our events, just look at them all!
We are very lucky that we have had lots of support from the local community: our “Buy-A-Brick” for £5 appeal was very popular; we have had significant donations from Terry Clements (former Mayor and Horringer Councillor), and the Horringer Women’s Institute. And we look forward to launching our next major appeal, asking local businesses to become our “Friend”, in the spring.
We’ve also been making lots of grant applications to funding bodies. And the success of all our fundraising, grant applications, and the support from our community means that the total raised to date is now over £100,000!
The Acorn Project is being overseen by the Pre-School Committee, with Ruth Walker and Kirsten Goodwin working hard as the Project Management Team. We are determined to have our new building in place in the Summer 2020.
If you would like to help us in any way, from volunteering your time or services to a financial donation, we would be very grateful! Please contact Ruth on firstname.lastname@example.org
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us so far, and do please keep supporting us for this final year – not long to go now!
