Horringer Pre-School is delighted to announce that the Acorn Project has been able to install the new building!
The Acorn Project was launched back in 2017 with the mission of raising £150,000 for a new community building for the village of Horringer that will be used as a Pre-School during the week. The money was raised through a variety of community fundraising events that have been generously supported by the local community and charity grants.
The new building opened to the Pre-School on the 14th September 2020 and has amazing new facilities including a spacious lobby, a private office, a new kitchen with facilities for the children to help with cooking, a large, light and open central space, new paths and ramps, allowing disabled access to the building and a separate sensory room with views onto the copse.
The Acorn building will be used for community events as soon as Covid restrictions allow.
Here are a few photos to allow you a peek at the new space!!
Our first community activity in the Acorn Building will be on Wednesday 28th October, which will be a Forest School camp for children aged 5-10 years old.
The Forest School Camp will provide enriching activities that give children the opportunity to immerse themselves in a safe woodland area; to develop their wellbeing and social skills with others outdoors. During camp they will be encouraged to take managed risks and make positive choices; while have fun and enjoying the great outdoors.
